Kelly has spent her career developing food products for many lifestyle brands and with new-found free time, she took the opportunity to create her own line of sauces, condiments and jams as a way to return to her Cape roots full time. Lighthouse Keepers had to light the tower’s lamp every night and make sure that the lamp stayed lit until the sun rose the next. They could not call in sick and rarely took a day off. Keepers lived at the lighthouse and were at work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Automation has replaced a small number of jobs that were done by quite special people. Being a Lighthouse Keeper was not a job for the faint of heart. Kelly is a Yarmouthport native who returned to the Cape when her job in New York City went remote last March. The book describes a world that has come and gone. The white lighthouse on the remote Flannan Isles that keeps ships safe from the dangerous waters of the Outer Hebrides is home to one of the world’s greatest mysteries.
