Other people may have a different opinion, but I don't see any advantage to forcing people to stand up to retain a place in line when the carry-ons will serve that purpose and allow everyone to remain seated. If there's a line of B's, there's a line of A's.

If in doubt, you could ask "whose bag is this?" Unless of course you don't want to know. I seriously doubt that a major percentage of the bag owners were far away. In my opinion, if the bag owner is within 6 feet or so of the bag, he's in line and there's no security risk. Surely though, a line of bags is obviously a line of unattended bags that i could quite easily and appropriately reported to the TSA to have them removed, don't the announcements always say "Do not leave your bags unattended, even for a moment"? I for one prefer to keep a hold of my belongings rather than leave them open to thieves, not to mention the security risk.Īm I being completely anal here or do I have a point? I did not make a scene in the interest of getting on the plane without being arrested. After some grumbles and scowls from around, we boarded the plane (I did not go to the back of the line). I said, "as far as I am concerned, no people = no line so I am perfectly within my rights to stand at the front". He told me that the other people were there before me and that the back of the line was way over there. I was asked by one of these passengers if I was in the A group, to which I responded "yes". The preboard announcement was made and the suitcase owners in the A line all mysteriously appeared. The inbound aircraft arrived and all the passengers got off.

(there were a couple of passengers sitting on the floor in the B line but none in A). Since there were no passengers standing there, and no seats in the immediate vicinity, I stood towards the front of the A Line. I walked up to the gate around 30 minutes before departure to find a line of suitcases in the A line. Anyway, I checked in online the night before so had an A boarding pass. I am not a huge fan of the A,B,C boarding procedure but I will live with it to get good schedules and fares. I am not a very regular Southwest flyer but I do fly occasionally. Had an interesting experience at SJC today.
